Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about therapy, consulting, and working with Motia Health.
-
Therapy can be useful for health-related stress, the emotional impact of medical conditions or caregiving, anxiety, persistent stress, burnout, adjustment to change, relationship and family concerns, and identity questions.
If your needs fall outside my areas of focus, I will try to help you identify an appropriate referral or resource.
-
I work with adults and couples who are navigating health-related challenges, stress, anxiety, adjustment concerns, work pressures, relationship dynamics, and other major life transitions.
I also welcome patients seeking a thoughtful, practical space for personal growth, self-understanding, and building resilience.
-
Yes. Motia Health Consulting welcomes LGBTQIA+ patients and is committed to providing an affirming, respectful, and nonjudgmental space.
Your identities, relationships, and lived experiences are understood as important parts of who you are, not problems to be explained or changed. Therapy is tailored to you, with care grounded in curiosity, respect, and your individual goals.
-
My availability changes over time. Please contact the practice to ask about current openings, the waitlist, and whether your needs are a good fit for the services I provide.
I offer a brief initial consultation to help prospective patients determine next steps. -
Motia Health Consulting is based at 212 South Marion Street, Suite 2, Oak Park, Illinois 60302.
-
Yes. I offer secure telehealth appointments for eligible patients in PSYPACT-participating states, as well as in-person sessions.
Virtual therapy can be a practical option when travel, work, caregiving, health concerns, or scheduling make office visits more difficult.
-
My work is grounded in evidence-based approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based strategies, and integrative psychotherapy.
Treatment is individualized: we will clarify what is bringing you in, identify practical goals, and select approaches that fit your needs, preferences, culture, and circumstances.
-
Yes. I have specialty training in health psychology and extensive experience at the intersection of emotional well-being, medical care, and quality of life.
This perspective can be especially helpful for people adapting to illness, managing health-related stress, making lifestyle changes, or navigating the impact of healthcare experiences.
-
Yes. I aim to provide culturally responsive, respectful care and recognize that identity, family context, faith, immigration history, race, ethnicity, gender, and community can meaningfully shape a person’s experiences.
We can make these parts of your life central to therapy when they are important to you.
-
Yes. I offer a brief, no-charge consultation so that you can ask questions, describe what you are looking for, and determine whether my practice may be a good fit.
A consultation is not a therapy session, diagnosis, or emergency service.
-
The first appointment will last a full hour. It is an opportunity to discuss what has brought you to therapy, relevant background, current concerns, and what you hope will be different.
We will also review practical matters, including confidentiality, payment, scheduling, and whether working together appears to be a good fit.
-
Most individual therapy sessions are typically 45-50 minutes and are often scheduled weekly at the outset.
Frequency can change over time based on your goals, clinical needs, availability, and the stage of treatment.
-
There is no single timeline that fits everyone. Some patients seek focused, short-term support around a specific issue, while others prefer longer-term therapy for more complex or ongoing concerns; we will revisit progress and treatment goals regularly.
-
Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO credentialing is currently pending, and in-network participation has not yet been confirmed.
Insurance arrangements can vary by plan and may change over time. Please contact the practice for current information about in-network participation, self-pay fees, and whether out-of-network documentation may be available.
For clients using out-of-network benefits, I do not bill insurance directly. Upon request, I can provide a detailed receipt, often called a superbill, that you may submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement.
Because eligibility, deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and authorization requirements vary by plan, I encourage you to verify your behavioral health benefits directly with your insurer before beginning treatment. Insurance coverage does not necessarily determine your final out-of-pocket cost.
-
No. As a psychologist, I provide psychotherapy and psychological consultation but do not prescribe medication.
If medication evaluation or management may be helpful, I can discuss coordination with your physician, psychiatrist, or other qualified prescriber, with your written permission.
-
My practice currently focuses on psychotherapy and consultation rather than formal psychological testing or forensic evaluation.
I may be able to suggest referral options based on your needs.
-
Motia Health Consulting is not an emergency or crisis service.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department; if you are experiencing a mental-health or suicide crisis in the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Motia Health Consulting helps healthcare organizations listen to patients in ways that improve care.
We provide behavioral health, measurement, implementation, and strategy expertise to organizations seeking to make care more patient-centered, equitable, and effective.
-
I work with health systems, payers, digital-health companies, startups, professional organizations, and other healthcare-focused teams.
Engagements are tailored to organizations that want to improve how they measure, understand, and act on patients’ experiences and outcomes.
-
Services may include patient-reported outcome strategy, measurement selection and implementation, behavioral-health expertise, quality-improvement advising, clinical-content review, stakeholder engagement, and support translating evidence into usable programs or products.
The specific scope depends on the organization’s goals, resources, and stage of development.
-
Patient-reported outcomes, or PROs, are reports that come directly from patients about their symptoms, functioning, quality of life, and experiences of care.
When designed and used well, they can help organizations identify needs that clinical or administrative data alone may miss.
-
Meaningful measurement gives organizations a clearer view of how care is affecting people’s daily lives, not only their clinical or financial outcomes.
It can support better decisions, more responsive services, improved quality initiatives, and stronger alignment with patient priorities.
-
Yes. I can help assess which measures are appropriate for your population, clinical setting, decisions, and implementation capacity.
My goal will not be simply to help you collect more data, but to collect information that is valid, feasible, interpretable, and useful.
-
Yes. Effective implementation requires more than selecting a questionnaire or building a dashboard.
I help teams consider workflow design, technology, clinician engagement, patient burden, equity, interpretation, and how results will actually inform care or organizational decisions.

Most engagements begin with a discovery conversation to clarify the problem, stakeholders, desired outcomes, timeline, and available resources.
From there, we develop a focused scope that may include assessment, recommendations, facilitation, implementation support, or ongoing advisory work.
-
Fees depend on the scope, timeline, complexity, and level of involvement required.
After an initial discussion, I can provide a proposal with clear deliverables, assumptions, timeline, and fee structure.

The appropriate role depends on the project and any institutional or funding requirements.

If your organization is seeking direct mental-health treatment or employee assistance services, please contact the practice about therapy services or appropriate referral options.

Please complete the Project Inquiry Form that includes the challenge or opportunity you are addressing, relevant timing, and the type of support you are considering.
