Amplifying the patient voice in pursuit of better outcomes.

Motia Health Consulting was founded by Zeeshan "Zee" Butt, PhD, a licensed, clinical psychologist dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes for patients, both at an individual and a system level.

His expertise draws on the principles of patient-centered care, health psychology, and measurement science.

Rooted in Meaning

THE MOTIA HEALTH STORY

One of Zee's earliest memories of childhood home was of Arabian jasmine, also known as jasminum sambac, or motia. It is the national flower of his mother country, Pakistan, where it is used in traditional medicines, teas, and wellness rituals. Throughout Asia, motia flowers signify new beginnings, healing, and health, representing the belief that even in the most challenging moments, meaningful change is possible.

That memory continues to guide Motia Health today: a commitment to listening deeply, honoring lived experience, and helping individuals + organizations create care that is more human, equitable, and effective.

Over 20 years of experience.
Always centered on the patient.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Zeeshan Butt (he/him), PhD, is a clinical psychologist, health services researcher, and healthcare strategist whose career has centered on one question:

How do we make sure what matters to patients actually shapes care?

He began his career at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where he led patient-centered outcomes research and worked directly with people navigating organ transplantation, cancer, chronic illness, and other high-stakes health transitions.

In 2021, Zee moved into healthcare technology, bringing measurement science to scale into product and organizational settings at Phreesia. There, he expanded the use of patient-reported outcome tools, improved how they were implemented, and advanced quality measures that connected patient input to how care is delivered and evaluated.

Today, through Motia Health Consulting, he brings those experiences together — evidence-based, personalized care and applied implementation research — to help individuals meet their goals and healthcare organizations be more responsive to the patients they serve.

From Insight to Meaningful Change

A MORE HUMAN APPROACH

Healthcare is fragmented, if not broken, in part because it has lost sight of patients. At Motia Health, improving healthcare begins with what matters to the patient.

Listening is just the beginning: the goal is to translate what we learn from listening into meaningful action to improve care.

“I’m often the only psychologist in the room.”

— Zeeshan Butt, PhD || Founder of Motia Health Consulting

This has sharpened my ability to translate behavioral science to clinicians, researchers, product teams, policymakers, and healthcare leaders. One of my most important jobs is to advocate for patients in rooms where they are not sitting.

Two Practices, One Motia

Meaningful change looks different for everyone.

Whether you’re an individual or a couple seeking mental health support or an organization working toward better patient-centered outcomes, Motia Health can help you move forward.
